Profhilo is an injectable treatment that is used to improve the quality of your skin. It helps to tighten skin, and improve its texture and hydration levels. The result is that skin will look more youthful, more glowing and fine lines will be minimised.

What is Profhilo used for?

Profhilo is used to treat:

  • Dehydrated/dry and dull skin.
  • Skin laxity; skin that has lost its elasticity. It may sag or feel loose.
  • Crepey skin. Crepey skin is thin and looks finely wrinkled like crepe paper.
  • Sun damaged skin.

Where can it be injected?

  • Face/Neck/Decolletage.
  • It can also be used on the body in areas of dehydrated crepey skin, such as the knees/hands/arms/abdomen.

Who is a good candidate for Profhilo?

Anyone aged thirty or older who is noticing a change in the quality of their skin may be a good candidate for Profhilo. Profhilo is also popular among brides and mothers of the bride who wish to look glowing on the big day!

How does Profhilo work?

Profhilo contains hyaluronic acid, something that is naturally found in the skin but declines as we age. Hyaluronic acid attracts water, which helps with achieving that hydrated, more glowing appearance. It also increases the production of type I and type III collagen in fibroblasts, and type IV and VII collagen in keratinocytes – types of collagen that unfortunately diminish as we age. This results in improved skin quality and skin hydration, both in the dermis and epidermis. There is also increased production of endogenous HA and elastin giving the skin a more youthful look.
What makes Profhilo so special is that it has the highest concentration of hyaluronic acid in the market. It contains 32mg of low molecular weight HA (80-100Kda) and 32 mg of high molecular weight HA (1100-1400Kda). This gives one of the highest concentrations of HA on the market totalling 64 mg of HA in a 2ml prefilled syringe. It is released slowly and is more resistant to degradation than other similar hyaluronic acid skinboosters.

What is involved in getting a Profhilo treatment?

Profhilo is most commonly used to treat the lower face from the cheekbone downwards. 10 strategically placed injection sites allows the product to cover the maximum surface area.
It can also be used to treat crepey skin on the neck or on the decolletage. It can even be used on other areas of the body where skin has become dry and wrinkled such as the hands and knees.
Two sessions of Profhilo are recommended, 4-6 weeks apart. For those patients who are suffering from more dramatic ageing or sun-damage, a third session may be recommended. You can book a consultation with me if you would like to know if Profhilo is right for you and your skin.
Maintenance is also required. One session every three months is a nice way to maintain a constant result, or alternatively two sessions every six months can be an option. It can also be done simply for a specific event such as a wedding, but two sessions are still recommended.

How much does Profhilo cost?

A single treatment of Profhilo costs €300, but two sessions are recommended which costs €600. All follow-up sessions also cost €300.
